ABOUT

Jen Miraflor is the founder and cloth maker at Miraflora, a studio born from her creative practice, love for color and making with her hands. She creates handwoven textiles in small batches focused on design and quality hoping to bring beauty and happy to those it touches for years to come. A graphic and textile designer, her work is inspired by mid-century modern design, patterns, and colors in nature and cultures from her travels.

When asked what she loves most about her practice, Jen has said—

“I love the sounds the loom makes — the speeding sound of the shuttle as it’s thrown, the beater tapping the cloth, the soft rattling of metal heddles as treadles lift the shafts — as I weave cloth. I also love that no matter how I plan for a project, I still get surprised by the unexpected colors that come to life when warp and weft colors interlace with one another.”

Before Miraflora, Jen worked on a diverse range of projects from consumer goods packaging to exhibition design. All the pieces you see here are designed and handmade by her in New York, where she lives and works.
